RTÉ RnaG bringing listeners great music all week from Miltown
RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will be heading to Miltown Malbay for Willie Week, and broadcasting live from there from Sunday 8 July to Friday 11 July.
RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta has been a stalwart supporter of the festival since the early seventies, although the programming content and scope has developed significantly in the intervening years.

Altan To Perform At The Áras an Uachtaráin Garden Party

Traditional Irish band Altan will perform at the Áras an Uachtaráin Garden Party hosted the the President and Sabina Higgins Monday 25th of June, where President Higgins will acknowledge Altan for the contribution they have made to Irish Music and Culture over the last 30 years.
Altan are very delighted to be invited to perform at the Áras. The band were honoured with a Civic Reception by Donegal County Council last month, to celebrate the bands 30 year Anniversary. In 2017 Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh one of the founding members of Altan was awarded ‘Traditional Musician of the Year’ at the Gradam Ceoil Music Awards.

UL students to present series on national airwaves
First year students from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick will be presenting the new music series Ar Bhruach na Sionainne on the national airwaves on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta as part of the station’s summer schedule that starts this month.
The series title means ‘on the banks of the Shannon’ where it was recorded on the beautiful UL campus. In it, we’ll hear music and song from the students, their friends and family, former students, and academic staff at the university. The programme is broadcast every Monday at 4.30 pm, and listeners can also listen live online or listen back at www.rnag.ie.

IMRO CEO APPOINTED TO BOARD OF GESAC – THE REPRESENTATIVE BODY FOR SONGWRITERS AND COMPOSERS IN EUROPE
Mr. Victor Finn, CEO of IMRO (the Irish Music Rights Organisation) has been appointed to the board of GESAC, the European Grouping of Societies of Authors and Composers. Comprising authors’ societies from across the European Union, Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland, GESAC represents more than 1 million creators, advocating for creators in the areas of musical, audio-visual, visual arts, and literary and dramatic works.
Commenting on his appointment, Victor Finn said, “IMRO and GESAC have a well-established relationship developed through our collective effort to ensure a sustainable creative and cultural ecosystem in Ireland, and across Europe. I look forward to building on this partnership through my membership of the GESAC Board and furthering our shared objective to ensure policy recognition for creators, an area of crucial importance, as the music sector evolves.” (more…)

Atlanta, GA – Traditional Irish band, Téada, headlines IrishFest Atlanta occurring October 26-27, 2018 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody just outside of Atlanta. Additional entertainment includes a concert by The Green Fields of America on their 40th Anniversary Tour and the return of Pride of Moyvane Ceili Band playing for the lively ceili on Saturday afternoon.
The two-day festival offers concerts, dance performances, workshops, a ceili dance, lectures and many family fun activities. Pioneers of Irish-American Music and Dance Celebrate 40 Years with Dublin Castle Concert
Green Fields of America to play as part of Famine-art exhibition, Coming Home: Art and the Great Hunger
The pioneers of Irish-American music for stage, Green Fields of America, will perform in Dublin of May at 7pm at The Printworks, Dublin Castle.
Led by Limerick-born Mick Moloney, Green Fields of America led the way in bringing together musicians, dancers and vocalists from both sides of the Atlantic, for their now-legendary expressions of culture and patriotism.
Formed in 1978, the ensemble has been a launch pad to some of the biggest names in Irish trad music and dance, including Jean Butler, Seamus Egan, Eileen Ivers, Joanie Madden, Dennis Cahill and Liz Carroll.
