Return to Camden Town Festival

The 17th Return to Camden Town Festival kicks–off with a Birmingham Irish themed night featuring Noreen Cullen and Adrian Burns, Conor Healey and friends at Camden’s Green Note. Later in the week (Thurs) the Festival will host its first concert in legendary Irish music venue – The Fiddler’s Elbow, Kentish Town with CrossHarbour and Artisan Row.

CELTIC COLOURS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

The festival opens on Friday night, October 9th in Port Hawkesbury with a concert featuring Loreena McKennitt, The String Sisters, Artists in Residence Lucy MacNeil and Liz Doherty, and Sabra MacGillivray. The 2015 Celtic Colours International Festival, presented by The Chronicle Herald, promises nine days and nights of concerts and community events before wrapping up October 17th in Sydney with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, the Barra MacNeils and J.P. Cormier in concert at Centre 200. Artists from Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Newfoundland and Labrador, PEI, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec, will join some of Cape Breton’s finest singers, dancers, and players in 47 concerts taking place in communities all over the Island.

Cork Folk Festival

Cork is the place to be this October if you’re looking for a taste of southern traditions. Song will feature strongly at the 36th Festival so in preparation take time to learn a verse or two of The Boys of Fairhill. The line–up for the Cork Folk Festival will be a feast of music, song, and dance and stories all reflecting the thriving traditional scene in the city. As expected local musicians will strongly feature on the bill, including: Jimmy MacCarthy, Jimmy Crowley, John Spillane, The Four Star Trio, Matt Cranitch & Jackie Daly, Noel Shine & Mary Greene, The Cork Pipers and Singers Clubs and many more. The line–up also includes some of Irelands leading traditional groups including; Sligo’s finest trad band, Dervish featuring Cathy Jordan on vocals, Danú from Na Déise with Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Cherish The Ladies with Joanie Madden from USA, Buille featuring the Vallely brothers from Armagh and Gerry Cullen, Phil Callery and Fran McPhail of The Voice Squad. Also this year the festival will include Donal Lunny, Paddy Glackin and Paddy Keenan who all famously featured in The Bothy Band.

TUAM TRAD FESTIVAL

Tuam Trad Festival is delighted to be able to announce that the 6th Annual Trad Festival will be taking place from Friday September 18th – Sunday 20th, 2015.

The World famous tin whistle player, Mary Bergin will kick–start the festival on Friday evening when she will officially open the Festival in the Corralea Court Hotel at 7.30pm. Following the launch, a concert will be held in the Ard Rí House Hotel featuring Mary Bergin, who will be supported on the night by a host of guest musicians and tutors from this year’s festival.

Féile Cheoil Chill Chartha – Kilcar Fleadh

This year’s Kilcar Fleadh takes place from Monday, 27th to Friday,  July 31st with registration for the various workshops in Áislann Chill Chartha from 11.00am to 1.30pm on Monday.  ‘The Ramblin’ Session’, a new event introduced last year officially launches the Fleadh on Monday evening. The Crossroads Dance takes place on Tuesday evening. Echoes in the Glen, a unique event that has proved very popular especially with visitors takes place as usual on Thursday evening with a complimentary bus service from outside the Áislann at 7.00pm.
