ALISON KINNAIRD HAS A NEW WEBSITE

Temple Records artist, Alison Kinnaird has had her website overhauled and redesigned and it’s online now. Alison is one of the foremost exponents of Scottish harp music, playing both gut and wire-strung Scottish harps. She was the first player to make a recording of Scottish harp music, and co-wrote (with Keith Sanger) the history of harp in Scotland, as well as producing many other recordings and printed collections of music.

CARA TO RECORD A LIVE DVD

Back in good oul’ Germany, and recovering from what turned out to be a wonderful greatest tour of the USA, Gudrun and the guys are gearing up for a live recording on their autumn tour of Holland, Belgium and Germany. They have booked the Arsenaal Theater in Vlissingen, ordered in the cameras and will be recording a live DVD on Sunday October 21st.

THE WINDING WAY

Michel Ferry (fiddle) and Antoine Leclercq (guitar) are musicians from the Parisian area, both have been playing Irish traditional music in sessions for years with various musicians. They released the album “The Winding Way”,  in July 2007. It gathers together tunes composed by Michel over the last twenty years, and most of which were previously unrecorded.

KIERAN FAHY - THE MAN FROM THE WEST

Kieran Fahy is a Galway born and Belgian based fiddler, (he was a member of Shantalla for a number of years). He has recently released another album, entitled “Man from the West”. This follows on from his “Traditional Music of Ireland” and “Woman of Tuam”, he also has a duo album with the American guitarist, Duck Baker.

The Douglas Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann are settling back into a new year of classes and activities. Comhaltas is an organisation that seeks to promote Irish traditional music, song, dance and the Irish language around the world. One of its specific aims concerns the promotion of the harp, our national instrument.

DEIS UPDATE

Deis is a traditional arts funding scheme which was established under the Arts Council’s Traditional Arts Initiative, 2005-2008. It is a proposal based scheme which is aimed at encouraging and facilitating the traditional arts community to seek funding from the Arts Council for a range of projects. Proposals are for both traditional arts projects, and projects involving the traditional arts in collaboration with other artforms, that are in line with the Arts Council’s policy on the traditional arts.
