MBF LAUNCHES SEARCH FOR YOUNG MUSICAL TALENT

The Musicians Benevolent Fund has just launched the MBF Young Talent Awards 2008. Instrumentalists of 18 years or under are invited to apply for their share of an awards pot of up to £150,000. Last year almost 200 young people benefited from individual awards ranging from £200 to £1000.

The High Kings, which features renowned vocalists and musicians Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden, make their mark on various Billboard charts last week. Their self-titled debut album is #2 on both the World Music Chart and the New Artist Chart and also debuts at #13 on the Top Internet Album Chart and #154 on The Top 200 Album Chart.
The all-male Irish music group, from the creators and producers of Celtic Woman, spent two hectic weeks promoting their CD across the U.S., which included visits to top PBS and radio stations and performances on major TV shows such as KTLA’s Morning show, NBC’s The Today Show Weekend and ABC’s The View. They performed songs live in the studio on WFUV on March 16th. They also opened for Celtic Woman at NYC’s famed Radio City Music Hall. The High Kings just announced a 41-city nationwide tour which kicks off on April 17 in Louisville and includes stops in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, and several California cities.
