“CUP OF TAE” 2009

1st to 4th May – Bank Holiday Week-End
Ardara, Co. Donegal.
www.cupoftaefestival.com www.ardarafestivals.com

The 2009 Festival is sad yet honoured to be acknowledging the work of the late great James Byrne (An Beirneach). The origin and the basis of the “Cup of Tae” was to ensure that traditional music especially the Donegal fiddle music was retained. James was without doubt the greatest exponent of that and he gave the master fiddle class at the School since its inception. On the opening night this year friends and fans of James will come and honour this great man at the Opening Concert of the Festival. The weekend is hoped to be a weekend about the great man and a big weekend is expected. The famous Schools of Music in most instruments will take place and much of the music is open air or free to the public. One of the outstanding week-ends of the year is the “Cup of Tae” Festival, Ardara, Co. Donegal, on May Bank Holiday.
