The 3rd Annual “Clifden Traditional Music Festival” will take place on the weekend of the 13th–15th April 2012. Following on from 2010 & 2011,2012 promises to be a great weekend of the very best of Irish Music, song and dance! Top class visiting musicians from all over the country have been invited with a host of All Ireland Champions among them. Musicians will include; Maura Walsh, James Duggan, Graham Guerin, Gearoid Keating, Padraic Kerins, Josie & Una Canavan, Michael Curran, Chris Maguire, Daithi Gormley and a host more who will join local and other visiting musicians.

The Temple Bar TradFest, Dublin’s biggest and best Irish music and culture festival, will take place for the 7th year running on the 25th – 29th January 2012. Once again Temple Bar TradFest offers a wealth of music within the very walkable confines of Dublin’s Cultural Quarter.
As part of the festival, IMRO will be running 2 showcase concerts which will take place in The New Theatre in Temple Bar.

The annual Scoil Acla summer school takes place on Achill Island, Co. Mayo. Scoil Acla is Irelands oldest summer school, originally founded in 1910 and relaunched in 1985.
Scoil Acla follows the usual format of daily music classes which run from Monday to Saturday on the following instruments, accordion, banjo, flute, concertina, fiddle, harp, tin whistle, uileann pipes and bodhrán with beginners, intermediate and advanced students being catered for on all instruments. Other workshops available are creative writing, basket weaving, dancing and a course on Gaeilg’ Acla, the Achill dialect of Irish. Through out the week we have recitals, poetry readings, creative writing readings, indoor and outdoor concerts, sessions, walks, talks and much more.

Finnish and American musicians amongst those to take to the stage in Cork for Seán O Riada gold medal competition

15 traditional flute and whistle players, including a Lutheran priest Markus Asunta from Finland, young Irish American musician Sean Gavin from Detroit, and award-winning Scottish guitarist and flute player Tom Oakes, will be among those taking to the stage in the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork on Friday 13 January to compete for the Seán Ó Riada gold medal and €2500 in prize money. The judges on the night will be renowned musicians Mary Bergin and Michael Tubridy, and they will be joined by Matt Molloy via Skype from 1500 miles away in the Canary Islands.

Based at its permanent headquarters, Áras OaC in Miltown Malbay Co. Clare, our fully refurbished residence is next door to the one-time home of the renowned uillean piper, Willie Clancy (1918-1973). Miltown is the venue for the annual Summer School dedicated to his memory.
