The following is an extract from Lar Flynn’s Interview with Brian Kennedy for CONCERT4CANCER Souvenir Magazine.

” It was a bit of a shock of course, and it was doubled by the fact that my brother had been also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the same time but he sadly passed away just five months after his diagnosis. I realise that this ‘celebrity’ or being in the public eye is ‘currency’ and a platform for me to be able to start a conversation within families on difficult subjects that may not have taken place before whether it’s being a gay man and growing up in Falls Road,  and it’s the same with my cancer journey. It was on The Matt Cooper Radio Show that I made it known publicly because I know that even to this day that people are afraid to talk about it, particularly with men, especially anything below the belt”

A host of Irish and UK musicians have come together to announce CONCERT4CANCER a televised benefit concert to raise much needed funds for cancer support services in Ireland. Artists such as Riverdance, Ronan Keating, Gary Barlow, Nathan Carter, Brian Kennedy, and Paddy Casey have been announced with the event hosted by Anna Daly all in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.

In aid of the Marie Keating Foundation

A spectacular 25^th anniversary performance will be a part of the televised benefit gig on Virgin Media One Friday 28^th at 9pm.

RIVERDANCE has been announced as the latest addition to the star-studded Concert4Cancer in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.

The international music and dance phenomenon is celebrating 25 years since its first performance but due to the COVID pandemic, their international tours have come to an abrupt halt and they have not been able to perform together since early March. This special performance for the Concert4Cancer in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation will be one of the flagship pieces of the concert and is the first time in the history of the show that the original choreography will have been re-worked to ensure social distancing.

Concert4Cancer, proudly supported by the Permanent TSB Community Fund will be aired on Virgin Media One on Friday August 28th at 9pm and Riverdance will join a host of names including; Ronan Keating, Gary Barlow, Nathan Carter, Brian Kennedy, Lisa Lambe, Aimee, HotHouse Flowers, Paddy Casey with lots more.
