Straight out of North-West London, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Sinéad Egan, has brought to us a uniquely compelling debut album For You, mastered at the famous Abbey Road Studios, London, it mixes spell-binding guitar melodies and riffs with magically orchestrated string sections, captivating Irish music accompaniment and exquisite song-writing, resulting in a fantastically addictive, memorable album that simply cannot be missed.
She’s carefully crafted her own sound and songs, which has led to her releasing her first album. The new recording incorporates elements of Irish traditional music, soul, country and folk music, which provide a vehicle to deliver stories from her own life experiences. Sinéad’s lyrics evoke deep emotion, inspired by nature, life, love and loss as well as human connection, the music and lyrics transport the listener to another world. Her roots are firmly planted in the Irish culture but her album presents a fresh take on the folk tradition which delivers us a sound that is inherently and uniquely hers. Sinead herself is an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, and pianist and it all blends together with dreamy orchestral colours.
Influences are abundant, particularly the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman. She absorbs these inspirations to reveal how music can create something passionate, powerful and timeless.
“Sinéad is obviously a hugely talented all round musician and an exceptional songwriter,” writes Mark Thompson (musical advisor and personal friend to Kate Bush, Pete Townshend and previously an A&R consultant for Sony, MCA, A&M Records and CBS).“..Occasionally I got a sense of Minnie Ripperton (and there can be no higher praise), although stylistically Sinead treads her own furrow.”
“Her emotionally charged songwriting strikes a chord with the listener, the vivid colours she paints with her lyrics feels timeless and authentic. The album boasts a variety of styles, from the inviting opener Wise Enough To Know to which sends us into her world, the drive of Love Can Be The Enemy (For You) to the Irish Jig of Nobody Knows which sounds fresh off country radio.”….MNGR magazine
