Gael Linn are organising a concert as part of the 65 year celebrations in the Imperial Hotel, in Cork city, Thursday 29 March at 8pm. Amongst the performers on the night there will be music from Peader Ó Riada, Seán Ó Sé, Máire Ní Cheilleachair, Colm Murphy, Conal Ó Gráda, Jackie Daly agus the group Leoithne. An evening filled with music and singing, presented by RTÉ’s Raidió na Gaeltachta music presenter, Áine Hensey.
The Imperial Hotel holds a special place in the history of Gael Linn, as it was in this hotel 65 years ago that Séamus Mac Crosáin agus Dónall Ó Móráin’s plan was first discussed to establish Gael Linn. Gael Linn’s CEO, Antoine Ó Coileáin has said:
‘It is only fitting that 65 Years of Gael Linn will be celebrated in The Imperial Hotel, the place Gael Linn came to life. There has always been a strong connection between Gael Linn and the people of Cork and we are proud of this connection. This concert, with performances from some of the best musicians Ireland has produced, will provide an opportunity for our friends in Cork to come together and celebrate the organisation in which they played a central role from the beginning’.
This concert will be organised as part of Bliain na Gaeilge and we are thankful of all the help received from Bliain na Gaeilge organisers.
Tickets for the event can be bought from Gael Linn offices (01 6751200) or on EventBrite.ie -
