Pipers and harpists have one week left to apply for the Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal 2016. 30 September is the final date for entries to the competition, which is run by Peadar Ó Riada on his RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta programme Cuireadh chun Ceoil.

To enter, musicians should record 5 pieces of music and upload them to www.cuireadhchunceoil.ie , or alternatively burn them to CD and send them to Peadar Ó Riada in Cúil Aodha. Full details are on the website.

The Byrne Brothers from Donegal have a facebook video from this years all Ireland Fleadh going viral, with over 2.8 million views all over the world!Playing since before they were even big enough to hold their instruments properly, these 3 boys live with music in the way the rest of us live with air.They are Luca (12) Button accordion, Finn (10) Banjo and Dempsey (7) Whistle and Bodhran, who get up in the morning and have jigs with their Coco Pops, reels in the car on the way to school and come home to more of the same and some dancing before dinner! As well as being highly accomplished musicians they are all Ulster Irish Dancing Champions in their grades.
