Jackie Daly and Matt Cranitch are acknowledged masters of the rich musical tradition of Sliabh Luachra in the southwest of Ireland. This culturally unique area on the Cork / Kerry border is renowned for its distinctive style of playing, special repertoire, and as a source of inspiration for both Jackie and Matt. Their new album, Rolling On, draws upon this rich legacy. As Dan Neely said in the NY Irish Echo, “Separately, they are brilliant to hear but together they are sublime.”

Over 1 million viewers tuned in to the 2016 series of FleadhTV on TG4, live over four nights from Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis, Co Clare, Presenters Mairéad Ní Chuaig, Lynette Fay, Cathy Jordan and local Clare musician Tóla Custy, brought the very best of Irish traditional music into the homes of Ireland and online worldwide.
The peak viewership was on the Sunday night broadcast when it reached 281,000 people.

The northernmost Irish festival in the world will be organised for the 11th time from October 5th to 9th this year in Oulu, Finland. The Irish Festival of Oulu has taken its place as the main event of the northern countries presenting Irish culture in its various forms from music and dance, poetry and theatre and much more.
The Irish Festival of Oulu has respectively reached great success during the past ten years and once again the stars of Irish music are coming to Oulu. The program contains big names like Liam O’Flynn, Usher’s Island, Seamus Begley & Tim Edey, Danú and Four Winds. For the first time ever the festival organises an internationally acclaimed symphony concert with Oulu Sinfonia orchestra and conductor David Brophy.

Ennis Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann an outstanding success

The Fleadh has been an outstanding success in advancing the vision and aspirations of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann nationally and locally. Record numbers of young people attended masterclasses at Scoil Éigse, concert audiences broke all records, numbers of competitors were up due to increased entries from overseas including two Japanese Céilí Bands and Fleadh TV broadcast 12 hours of lively invigorating television.

The Willis Clan are set to perform a very special Dublin show at the National Concert Hall this Thursday, 25 August 2016 following the success of their nationwide tour and new album ‘Chapter Two: Boots’. Tickets priced €30 are on sale now. Concessions available for students, OAPs and Group Bookings. The Willis Clan, who recently performed for children in Temple Street Children’s Hospital, will donate a percentage of proceeds to the hospital.
Bringing their mixture of original bluegrass and country to the National Concert Hall this August, the 14 person family will return to Ireland for their first headline Dublin date. The concert is simply unmissable as The Willis Clan will be joined on stage by special guests including Moya Brennan for a number of songs.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park to host a “Fun with the Fleadh event”

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is embracing the arrival of Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann to Ennis and County Clare by hosting a special “Fun with the Fleadh event” where people can jam with the Folk Park’s traditional Irish musicians, learn about the history of musical instruments, or just listen to good toe tapping Trad!
The event runs from the 11th to 21st of August from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. daily. People attending the Fleadh are welcome to join with the Bunratty Folk Park’s troop of traditional Irish musicians, many of whom are regular performers at the nightly traditional Irish dinner entertainment at the Folk Park’s Barn, who along with other musicians will take up residence in the various cottages around the Folk Park each day during the event.
