The face, and especially that voice, was instantly recognisable. He, along with Luke Kelly, Barney McKenna, Ciaran Bourke and John Sheahan, became The Dubliners and were part of the folk boom that swept through music in Ireland in the early 60’s and paved the way for many bands & singer-songwriters that followed.
Over the course of his lengthy career Ronnie recorded with a very wide variety of musicians and many diverse styles…..The Pogues, Rory Gallagher, Eleanor Shanley, Billy Connolly, Jah Wobble, The Dropkick Murphys, Mary Coughlan, Damien Dempsey among many others.
All proceeds from the concert go to the Cancer Clinical Research Trust at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.
