An impressive line-up of top local performers will appear in the Strule Arts in Omagh for a stellar stage Céilí-Concert on Friday 11 March 2016 at 8pm.
Derry based flute maestro, Marcas Ó Murchú brings Irish music, song and dance in an engaging performance rich in rhythm, humour and boundless energy. Accordian and guitar player Ciaran Kelly and Tyrone’s Priscilla Connolly, on keyboards a respected all Ireland champion will provide tasteful accompaniment. Caitriona Ó Murchú, sean-nós dancer, son Cormac on bodhrán and their daughter Róise’s dancing, vocal talents in Irish and English and duet playing provide an excellent spectacle everywhere they perform.
Known for his numerous TV and radio programmes, awarded the respected Ard-Ollamh title at the Fleadh by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí, Ó Murchú enthuses “One of the most heartfelt themes of Saint Patrick’s is emigration,” says Ó Murchú. “Music was a way that people stayed close to home. A stage céilí -concert will give families will have a chance to experience the enchanting spirit of Saint Patrick’s Day through Irish music, song and dance by participating in an engaging performance rich in rhythm and humour. This family-friendly performance features a chance to participate in wonderful Irish dancing and share boundless energy and lively instrumental tunes and songs.”
Admission £5, the event will be preceded by a free sean-nós tutorial from six to seven.
