Scoil Cheoil na Botha
October 9th – 11th, 2015
Long established as one of the country’s most intimate and welcoming festivals, Scoil Cheoil na Botha returns to Scotstown, Co. Monaghan from the October 9th – 11th for its 9th consecutive year. As in other years, the festival will feature an array of musical activities including instrumental and vocal workshops, tutor’s recital and sessions for all levels.
SCNB is also proud to present a participatory traditional arts experience for young children aged 3–5. Inspired by local musical and cultural traditions and kindly supported by the Arts Council, this specially commissioned show will be delivered by Thomas Johnston, a local traditional artist with extensive expertise in YPCE. This show will also form the basis of the SCNB schools’ programme in the week preceding this year’s festival.
While sessions will occur over the course of the weekend in local establishments, workshops will be held on Saturday October 11th beginning at 11am. Followed by a tutor’s recital, classes will be held in the following instruments: fiddle, flute, concertina, button accordion, banjo, harp, piano accordion, traditional singing and guitar accompaniment.
