Launch of inaugural Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair
The inaugural Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair will be launched on Rónán Beo @3 on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, live from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, in Dublin, on Tuesday 11 November at 3 pm.
Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair will take place in northwest Donegal from 27 December to 1 January. In its first year under its new organisers, Comharchumann Forbartha Ghaoth Dobhair, the School will continue the original vision of the Frankie Kennedy Winter School: to pass on, through sharing knowledge and nurturing talent, the joys of Irish traditional music, with special place given to the music and songs of the Donegal Gaeltacht.
Guests at this year’s school will include Liz Carroll and Séamie O’Dowd; Fiddlers Bid; Boys of the Lough; and Séamus Begley, Caitríona McKay & Chris Stout with Séamus Egan (Solas). Further information www.scoilgheimhridh.com.
The school will be launched on Rónán Beo @3 with great live music from Tara Diamond, Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh, Danny Diamond, Gay McKeon, An Crann Óg and more, and members of the public are welcome to attend the broadcast.
Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair le seoladh ar Rónán Beo @3 ar RnaG
Seolfar Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair ar Rónán Beo @3 ar RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta beo ó Choláiste Phádraig i nDroim Conrach, BÁC, agus tá fáilte roimh an bpobal a bheith i láthair.
Beidh an scoil ar siúl ó 27 Nollaig go 1 Eanáir, agus sa chéad bhliain seo faoi stiúir lucht eagraithe nua, Comharchumann Forbartha Ghaoth Dobhair, leanfaidh an scoil ar aghaidh leis an bhfís a bhain le Scoil Gheimhridh Frankie Kennedy ón tús: an pléisiúr atá le baint as ceol traidisiúnta na hÉireann a thaispeáint don aos óg, le tús áite ag ceol agus amhránaíocht Ghaeltacht Dhún na nGall.
Beidh Liz Carroll agus Séamie O’Dowd; Fiddlers Bid; Boys of the Lough; agus Séamus Begley, Caitríona McKay & Chris Stout le Séamus Egan (Solas), ar chuid de na ceoltóirí a bheidh le cloisteáil ag an scoil i mbliana.
Ag an seoladh ar 11 Samhain, beidh ceol beo le Tara Diamond, Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh, Danny Diamond, Gay McKeon agus An Crann Óg, gan ach cuid acu a lua.
