SLIGO LIVE FESTIVAL CLUB at 5th ON TEELING is a unique experience with three performance stages hosting a true festival atmosphere.  The SLIGO LIVE 3 Stage Late Night Festival Club features RENEGADE BRASS BAND on Friday, 24th October 14, THE RIPTIDE MOVEMENT on Saturday, 25th October 14, and RACKHOUSE PILFER on Sunday, 26th October 14.  The club will again feature three rooms of music. A main stage with the headline act, an acoustic stage with a selection of festival artists who have played other gigs within the festival and a session room where top traditional musicians play together in sessions.

RENEGADE BRASS BAND:  Renegade Brass Band from Sheffield in Yorkshire headline the Festival Club on Friday 24th October, in 5th on Teeling in Teeling Street.

RBB have established a reputation as a headline act, and have played packed-out shows at venues across the UK and Europe. In the last year, they have appeared alongside acts including Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, Xavier Rudd, The Apples, Quantic, Craig Charles, Rodney P & Skitz, Ms. Dynamite, DJ Shadow and DJ Yoda.  The band released their debut album, ‘RBB: Rhymes, Beats & Brass’ in July, which sees them further develop their hard-edged brass sound – combining raw brass funk with the vocals of MC V3xation and scratch DJ Zxodiac – as well as a series of remixes, including an appearance on The Herbaliser’s ‘There Were Seven: Remixes’ album. “Probably the best brass band working out of Britain!” Craig Charles, BBC6 Music.    “The best thing to come out of Sheffield since The Full Monty!” RTE 2FM, Ireland

THE RIPTIDE MOVEMENT:  The Riptide Movement headline the Festival Club on Saturday, 25th October. The last couple of years has seen The Riptide Movement make multiple incursions into the Irish top 10; gig their way from Dublin to Delhi with a stop-off in Glastonbury; take to the UK airwaves with all 50 of the BBC Concert Orchestra; collaborate with Jim Sheridan on an update of The Commitments and, last summer, support The Rolling Stones at their Hyde Park homecoming.

“It was an absolutely brilliant few months for us,” Mal resumes. “First we got to go into Grouse Lodge Studios and record our new album with one of the founder members of Flogging Molly, Ted Hutt, who’s also worked with Dropkick Murphys and The Gaslight Anthem, and then we received a call from our booking agent saying, ‘Keep July 13th free; there’s something happening.’ Never in a million years did we think that ‘something’ would be opening for the Stones.   Mal and his bandmates Jay Dalton (guitar), Gerry McGarry (bass & harmonica) and Gar Byrne (drums & piano) got together in 2006 through their mutual love of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Ryan Adams, Rory Gallagher and, of course, their new mates Mick ’n’ Keef

The new Riptide Movement album, Getting Through, is testimony to the unique sound the band have forged during those thousands of hours they’ve spent together on stage and in the rehearsal room. From anthemic fist-pumping start (‘Animal’) to achingly beautiful finish (‘Sycamore Tree’), it’s full of big riffs, even bigger choruses and a lust for rock ’n’ roll life that Iggy Pop himself would be proud of.

RACKHOUSE PILFER:  SLIGO LIVE is delighted to announce one of Ireland’s most exciting bands, Rackhouse Pilfer as the Headline act for the Festival Club on Sunday, 26th October 2014 at 11.30pm.  They were Special Guests opening for Imelda May at Sligo Live Festival 2013 and such was their popularity that this year they return to Sligo Live to headline their own show.   The rise of RACKHOUSE PILFER is unstoppable.  They are a stomping, fiery and exciting band and have been getting rave reviews with their brand of rootsy Americana.
Following the release of their first album RACKHOUSE PILFER took their electric and energetic stage show to some of Ireland’s biggest festivals and venues including the world famous Omagh Folk Park Bluegrass festival, Body and Soul, Sligo Live, Sea Sessions and many more. They set off on their first European tour in the summer of 2013, performing at festivals in Italy, Switzerland and France which included a storming performance and standing ovation at ‘La Roche Sur Foron’ – widely regarded as Europe’s biggest Bluegrass Festival.  January 2014 saw RACKHOUSE PILFER jet off to Nashville, Tennessee to record their new album of all original tracks entitled “LOVE AND HAVOC” with producer Brad Jones. Brad has worked with a long list of Pop, Rock and Alternative Country artists including Steve Earl, John Prine, John Hiatt, Josh Rouse and Bobby Bare Jr. “LOVE AND HAVOC” features 12 tracks penned by RACKHOUSE PILFER, most of which feature the stomping uproar you might expect from this band, but there are a few twists to the plot.  This summer they featured on the much coveted Front Cover of ‘Bluegrass Europe Magazine’ and were Finalists in the Hot Press ‘Big Break’ to find the hottest new acts in Ireland.

SLIGO LIVE, Ireland’s Folk, Roots & Indie Festival, celebrates 10 years of quality music on the Wild Atlantic Way this October Bank Holiday from 22nd – 27th October 2014.

Rackhouse Pilfer, Renegade Brass Band and The Riptide Movement join a line-up at SLIGO LIVE 2014 which includes SHERYL CROW, BELL X1, HORSLIPS, Michael McGoldrick Quartet, Simone Felice, The Barr Brothers, O’Hooley & Tidow, NoCROWS, and many more.
