Gig’n the Bann Festival, Portglenone, Co.Antrim

The Portglenone Cross Cultural Music and Dance Festival is recognised as one of the premier and much anticipated events on the festival calendar. 2014 will mark the 15th anniversary of the festival, testament, to its reputation for offering a highly impressive line–up of top performers spanning Traditional, Scottish, Gospel and Folk Music circles.
Many world renowned performers from the Irish traditional and Ulster Scots traditions have entertained the appreciative audiences who make the annual trip to Portglenone.
Artists such as Sharon Shannon; Dervish; Lúnasa; Guidewires; The Red Hot Chilli Pipers; The Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band; St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band and Cullybackey Pipe Band to name but a few have graced the stage in the historic venue at the Wild Duck Inn.
Plans for the 2014 festival are well underway with artists such as De Danann, We Banjo3, Reel It In, Cúig and Niamh McGlinchey already confirmed. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with concerts; Pipe Bands; Sessions; a Family Fun Day and more to be announced very soon.
So whether you want to join a session or listen to the sound of the pipes and drums or attend one of the concerts or other events over the course of the weekend I’m sure you will agree there is something for everyone!
