COSCÁN in Valley of the Kings
After their very successful album, Dinnseanchas, COSCÁN are currently putting the final touches to their eagerly awaited 3rd album, which is due for release in the Autumn. Noted for their lively self– penned compositions, the new album, of which the title has yet to be decided, is based on the magnificent and very ancient Boyne Valley and its surrounds in the heart of the Royal county of Meath, the home of COSCÁN.
Tune titles such as The Reel Around the Sun, The Dowth Reel and Cnogba (the old celtic name of Knowth) all owe their titles to the famous passage tombs at Newgrange and Brú na Boinne. Also getting a mention on the album is the famous village of Slane in the tune called The Flame of Slane which gets its title from the lighting of the Pascal Fire by St. Patrick. And The Apostles Stone which as legend tells us, was moved many times but for some inexplicable reason always returned to its current resting place in Slane. All interesting stuff!
The band are expected to finalize the album on their return from their French tour which includes an appearance at Europe’s largest Celtic festival, Festival Interceltique de Lorient. Launch date for the new album is to be confirmed.
