The Gathering Traditional Festival returns from February 19th – 23rd, 2014 for its celebratory 15th anniversary year. With a finely tuned mix of concerts, céilís, workshops and sessions The Gathering, has been the highlight of the Irish cultural calendar for trad musicians and céilí dancers alike since its inception way back in 1999.

Showcase Concerts
In association with Culture Ireland, the Showcase Concerts give new and emerging trad performers the opportunity to perform in front of festival organisers and agents from right across Europe. If you are interested in showcasing please contact festival organiser John O’Shea for more details.

Concerts
The stellar line–up of concerts confirmed so far for 2014 include Buttons and Bows, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, Téada with Séamus Begley, Caladh Nua and The Voice Squad.

Céilís
The toe–tapping tunes for the ever popular Gathering Céilís will be provided by Uí Bhriain, Donie Nolan Ceilí Band, Con Herbert and Friends, Striolán Ceilí Band and Johnny Reidy Ceilí Band.

Education & Masterclasses
The Schools Outreach Programme is one of the most popular elements of The Gathering Festival and is kindly sponsored by Killarney Credit Union and the Arts Office in Kerry County Council. Every year a group of musicians visit a selection of primary schools in the greater Killarney area.

Set–dancing workshops for beginners, advanced dancers and children, instruments and singers masterclasses, harp and fiddle recitals and Session on the lakes will also take place over the weekend.

The renowned impromptu Gathering sessions will also take place throughout the weekend.
