The Drogheda Singing Gathering, Ireland’s largest gathering of traditional singers, will draw on the rich singing heritage of the Louth region to showcase some of the most talented traditional singers from Ireland and overseas. With a focus on a capella singing and harmonies, this unique event will draw together singers of different styles, languages and genres to nurture and capture the overall essence of this tradition.
Featuring Folk legends Norma Waterson, Martin Carthy, The Voice Squad and members of The Unthanks, the Drogheda Singing Gathering is about celebrating songs of our heritage and the generations of singers who passed them down. Join us from February 8th to 10th and share your store of songs at informal and intimate singing sessions in ambient and historical locations across the Boyne Valley.
Be part of a singing circle at the entrance to the tomb at Newgrange. Enjoy homemade scones and tea in a cozy kitchen alongside Folk legends. Join a dawn chorus atop of Millmount tower. Come lend us your voice, everyone’s contribution is equally important and we look forward to the magic and spontaneity created by these informal sessions.
