The Sean–nós Northwest Irish Festival is pleased to announce it is returning to the Portland, Oregon metro area again this year. Marylhurst University in Lake Oswego will be the site of the sixth annual Sean–nós Northwest Irish Festival, President’s Day Weekend, February 15th–17th, 2013.

Instructors from both Ireland and the United States will provide classes in Irish language, singing, and traditional Irish dancing. The festival offers workshops in Irish art and storytelling as well as a screening of Irish films. The weekend starts on Friday evening in downtown Portland with an Irish céilí, a social dance with live music. Workshops are offered at Marylhurst on Saturday and Sunday, and a concert featuring some of the festival’s instructors is presented Saturday evening. Participants can attend any or all of the festival’s selections and no prior experience is needed. Intermediate and master–level courses are also available for more advanced participants. Dance classes at all levels will feature live music.

The festival also offers a special program just for kids on Sunday. Students will have the chance to take kid–friendly classes in Irish singing, dancing, language taught by a native Irish speaker. They can also take a class in Irish art taught by a talented Northwest artist.

Workshop ticket prices range from $45 to $75 for adults with kids’ registrations at half–price. An early–bird discount is available on weekend passes purchased by December 31st, 2012. Schedules, class descriptions, and registration information are available at www.seannos.org
