Family Hopes for Match Among Milwaukee’s Irish-American Community
Milwaukee Irish Fest and BloodCenter of Wisconsin are partnering to help six-year-old Jake Larkin of Milwaukee find a match for a life-saving marrow transplant during the largest Irish festival in North America. The organizations will host the Match Jake Marrow Drive from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the cultural pavilion at Milwaukee Irish Fest, located on the south end of the Henry W. Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds), 200 N. Lakeshore Dr., Milwaukee.

Master Uilleann Piper John McScherry and Millish Members Tyler Duncan and Mike Shimmin Form New Trio For Eponymous Album out September 25.
Belfast-born uilleann piper John McSherry and Detroit natives Tyler Duncan and Michael Shimmin have been dreaming of .the olllam. for the last decade. With a name inspired by the ancient Irish king’s own ollam bards of lore, the trio wanted an ensemble that naturally represented their combined experiences with a multiplicity of styles. McSherry, one of the best uilleann pipers in the world and a founding member of legendary Irish group Lúnasa, has been dubbed “a true master” by Irish Music Magazine and is well known for his current work with his group At First Light as well as his ’90s stint with Donal Lunny’s Coolfin. Duncan and Shimmin have also been busy in the United States performing and recording with their award-winning Irish-jazz crossover group Millish with Duncan doing double-duty in the dance-rock group My Dear Disco/Ella Riot. It seemed that the right moment for collaboration between the three musicians would never present itself.

One of the biggest names in Irish traditional music performs a special concert at the Masters of Tradition in Bantry on Thursday 16th August, ten years after appearing at the first festival.
Uilleann piper Liam O’Flynn formed Planxty with Donal Lunny, Christy Moore and Andy Irvine and has made over fifty recordings. He appeared internationally in Shaun Davey’s The Brendan Voyage and was Tg4 Traditional Musician of the Year in 2007. He makes an eagerly awaited return to the Masters of Tradition for a performance in St Brendan’s Church alongside guitarist Steve Cooney, singer John Flanagan and husband and wife duo Michael Rooney and June McCormack.

ALMIGHTY LOVE the brand new studio album from Damien Dempsey will be released on 28th September 2012.
This much anticipated release was written in Dublin and London and recorded in New Air Studios, London. The album has taken over four years to complete and is Dempsey’s most definitive recording to date.
Produced by long term collaborator John Reynolds, ALMIGHTY LOVE includes performances from Sinéad O’Connor and emerging London artist Kate Tempest.
