Dingle Tradfest returns this year after the success of the inaugural event in 2011. Kicking–off on September 6th and running until September 9th in Dingle town, the festival will host a series of concerts, a themed session trail and outdoor events, which will include a session at the summit of Mount Brandon, entitled Tom Crean’s Expedition.
The festival will promote Irish traditional music in an innovative way, emphasising the creativity of young traditional musicians on the scene today. Irish concertina virtuoso Niall Vallely, singer Karan Casey and the hugely influential Donal Lunny will headline the festival on Saturday 8th at the Hillgrove Niteclub. Support on the night will be provided by upcoming acts David Stone Quartet, JP Trio and local dancer, David Geaney. Other highlights include a Trad Disco with DJ Conor Crimmins and a polka/slide composition competition in honour of the late Stephen Carroll (accordian). The town will be a mecca for any music enthusiasts over the weekend with many events and sessions free of charge to the public.
