3rd International McIlroy Guitar Gathering

The third international gathering of McIlroy guitar players will be held in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland from August 9th–12th. Accommodation will be in the Backpackers Hostel (or you can book your own accommodation in the area. There will be workshops, sessions, concerts and plenty of time for playing, and of courses talking about guitars.

Dermot McIlroy worked with the famous Lowden factory for many years before branching out on his own in 2000. His guitars are at the top end of the scale and are played by Donal Lunny, Jimmy MacCarthy and Declan Sinnott amongst many more.

The weekend will include a ‘Get Together’ in O’Connor’s Bar with a traditional music session, a visit to the Giant’s Causeway and a look around Dermot McIlroy’s workshop in Antrim. Jen Komminick will give a tutorial masterclass in Celtic Fingerstyle Guitar. The evening concerts will feature, Jens, Torran and Outta Folkus.
