Now if you’re interested in traditional music, Tionscnamh Lugh should be your first point of contact in County Donegal. Ian Smith of Tionscnamh Lughs says “Tionscnamh Lugh are a not for profit Organisation, and we love what we do” people who are aware of us understand, very well, we promote high quality, and we do it at a reasonable cost to our audiences. If we didn’t bring the best high quality acts to the Gaeltacht region, who else would? That’s our motivation”.
Tionscnamh Lugh are very grateful for the support of the Arts Council in recent years, particularly the Traditional Arts section.
So who are Tionscnamh Lugh? Does it matter? If you go to Donegal any of their Trad Trathnona sessions this year are serious must do. There you will find separately and simultaneously art classes for children, while, the best–known of traditional artists people such as Martin
Hayes and Ciaran Tourish, Karen Matheson, Donald Shaw of Capercaillie among others share the stage, with the very best local artists, on
each Tuesday in July and August in 2012.
