From founding member of internationally acclaimed Anúna, to lead vocalist of phenomenally successful Riverdance to performing with Eurovision-winning Secret Garden to solo career – Fionnuala Gill is an accomplished and versatile artist.   Fionnuala Gill releases her solo album WHISPERS OF LOVE on Friday, 27th April 2012.

From her first vocal prize at the age of eight to her current rising international success, Fionnuala Gill has been captivating audiences at home and abroad.   She was a founding member of the internationally acclaimed choral group Anúna - the ensemble that became the original Riverdance choir.   Fionnuala’s international career gathered momentum when she was asked to tour as lead singer with the phenomenally successful Riverdance, with which she performed throughout the USA, UK and Europe.   In 2003 Fionnuala joined the Eurovision-winning group Secret Garden performing with them in Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Norway, and Ireland.

After completing a BA in Psychology at Trinity College Dublin, Fionnuala performed with Opera Theatre Company, Ireland, the National Chamber Choir, Ireland and then went on to win the Sean Connery Award to attend the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow where she completed an MA in Vocal Performance.

Having sung for such dignitaries as the President of Ireland, Queen Fabiola of Belgium, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Fionnuala was invited to perform with artists in the USA in 2008. Her tours with the composer Tim Janis and with The Boston String Quartet, along with several PBS television appearances, have resulted in a strong fan base stateside.

Alongside her musical career Fionnuala works as a mindfulness teacher and has a great passion for the healing arts and most particularly, the healing power of music. Having been on a spiritual path for many years, she now finds herself increasingly combining music and mindfulness in her work. In 2011 she had the privilege of singing for His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his visit to Ireland - an experience that fulfilled a personal and professional dream.  A qualified Aromatherapist and Reiki practitioner, Fionnuala has always been deeply interested in the healing qualities of sound and song.  She believes that music is a language beyond words and something that effortlessly connects the head and heart.  It is said that the ancient Celtic God, Dagda, had a magical harp that played three types of music; Suantraí, the music of rest; Goltraí the music of sorrow and Geantraí, the music of joy – and it knew instinctively what type of music was required at any given time.

Fionnuala Gill’s CD, Whispers of Love, which will be released with bonus tracks at the end of April 2012, transcends all categories, incorporating the depth of beauty of ancient Irish song and the delicate balance of classical structure.  The album is available through IML Irish Music Licensing Ltd.
