NEW ALBUM BITS‘N’PIECES FROM DÓNAL McCAGUE IS OUT NOW
The eagerly awaited debut fiddle album entitled Bits ‘N’ Pieces by Dónal McCague is out in shops now. Dónal is a Monaghan native and comes from a great musical stronghold of Rooney’s and McCague’s. On this debut, Dónal is joined by Michael McCague (At the Racket, At First Light), Brian McGrath and Johnny Ringo McDonagh (both De Danann). The album consists of 15 beautifully constructed tracks with the most “sympathetic accompaniment”.
“Dónal has developed into a fiddler of great expressivity, playing music adorned with an incredible level of detail… names such as Peoples, Rooney and Carty coming to mind”. Óisín MacDiarmada (Téada) Dónal has performed on stage most notably with Frankie Gavin in the National Concert Hall, Dublin at the age of 15 and plays regularly with the Leitrim flute-player, Dave Sheridan. An album not to be missed. Dónal will launch his album in the Crane Bar, Galway on September 23rd with Brian, Michael, Dave Sheridan and more special guests on the night. Tommy Peoples (The Bothy Band) will launch the album at the annual Scoil Cheoil na Botha Traditional Music weekend in Scotstown, Co. Monaghan on Saturday, October 15th. He will also be performing with Dave Sheridan and Michael McCague at the Steeple Sessions in Dublin, at the Tuam Trad Festival in late September and at Sligo Live October Bank Holiday weekend.
The album is available to purchase through Claddagh Records, various music shops throughout the country and also online at www.bitsnpieces2011.com
