ISMAY’S DREAM
Imay’s Dream is the first in a trilogy of albums charting Irish history from the Titanic to the Troubles. The work of Belfast singer/songwriter, Padraig Lalor, these will be released over the next two years with the first album Ismays Dream out now on Proper Records in the UK.
This is a license deal and Padraig tells us that he is open to similar arrangements with record labels in Ireland, Canada and the USA. “We have had huge interest in the work to date, it’s all new material and it takes an Irish look at the history of the Titanic, from its build in Belfast, to the 123 people who boarded in Cork and the eventual Connemara exile of the disgraced Ismay.”
Lalor who is now based in South Wales had teamed up with Danny Kilbride to produce a thematic album of new songs that re-tell the Irish dimension of the tragic Titanic. Lalor has also assembled an eight piece band to tour the CD as an audio visual production in the year running up to the anniversary of the launch of the ship (April 2012). Padraig has a folk pedigree having been given singing lessons by Kathleen Largey of the famous Belfast folk group the Flying Column.
