CO. CLARE FLEADH CHEOIL 2011, KILFENORA

June 16th - 19th, 2011

www.kilfenorainfo.com

For the third successive year, the Co. Clare Fleadh Cheoil will be held in Kilfenora, one of Ireland’s villages most famed for its music. This year we also celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

As in previous years, we expect perhaps the highest standard of competitors in any County Fleadh in Ireland, with some going on to win both at Munster and All-Ireland level. National winners in 2010 included Kilfenora’s own Eimear Howley – All-Ireland senior banjo champion – and the Inis Og Céilí Band (15-18).

Competitions will begin on Friday evening with the set-dancing contest, and for all other solo and group performers will start at 9.00 on Saturday and Sunday. A small fee is payable for attendance. Alongside these, other musical events include

Ÿ           céilís with the Abbey, Four Courts and Johnny Reidy Céilí Bands

Ÿ           open air céilí (Sunday) with the Kilfenora Céilí Band

Ÿ           a concert in Kilfenora Cathedral as part of the Riches of Clare programme

Ÿ           sessions featuring many of Clare’s finest musicians and singers.
