Traditional meets classical to showcase Suite in Cork & Galway
Legendary traditional fiddler Kevin Burke (Bothy Band, Patrick Street, Celtic Fiddle Festival) along with his musical partner; guitarist, composer and arranger Cal Scott will be travelling from their hometown in Portland, Oregon to perform the Irish Session Suite next month. The Suite is featured on their latest release of the same name and contains well-known traditional tunes arranged in the classical style.

The ‘Suite’ has been performed across the US with classical players to great acclaim but this will be its first outing in Ireland. Renowned classical musicians The RTÉ Vandbrugh String Quartet will join Burke to perform this work of music with Scott overseeing proceedings as arranger. The show in the Cork Opera House on Sunday May 15th and Galway’s Town Hall Theatre on Monday May 16th will contain three elements; a traditional set from Burke and Scott, a classical section from The Vandbrugh and the merging of the two traditions with Kevin Burke taking lead fiddle to perform the ‘Suite’ with the remaining quartet members. A very special night of music is assured.
