BBC Radio Ulster’s St Patrick’s Day concert at the 2,500 seater Waterfront Concert hall was oversubscribed by more than ten to one when tickets for Horslips concert with the Ulster Orchestra became available.

Demand for the tickets, which were allocated on a lottery basis, was unprecedented.

The band, which played the Ulster Hall and Queen’s Whitla Hall back in the seventies and more recently reopened the book on their gigging career in the Odyssey, will play  sections from The Book Of Invasions and The Táin their two best known albums.

The two hour concert, broadcast live from 8pm on BBC Radio Ulster will be compered by John Toal.

The orchestra will be conducted by Brian Byrne who has arranged the orchestral  accompaniments.

Singer songwriter Paul Casey plays support.
