New album & world record due from traditional super group ‘Frankie Gavin & De Dannan’
www.dedannan.com
For many years ‘De Dannan’ were the forerunners in the Irish traditional music world but after 33 years, 14 albums and a number of changes in the line up, the group disbanded in 2003. In August 2009, Frankie Gavin unleashed a new ‘De Dannan’ line up and after much acclaim following the band’s live performances, on September 23rd ‘Frankie Gavin & De Dannan’ will release its long awaited new album entitled ‘Jigs, Reels & Rock ‘n’ Roll’. The World Launch of the new album, which will take place at The Quays Music Hall in Galway city, will also coincide with Frankie Gavin’s attempt to enter the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ on the same day (Arthur’s Day) as the ‘Fastest Fiddle Payer in the World’. The album will also be launched internationally at performances at the ‘World Expo’ in China and at the ‘Shanghai Arts Festival’ on September 25th & 26th respectively. Other engagements within the period include an album launch in Monaco, a performance for Price Albert and a performance for former US President Bill Clinton in Dublin. A 32 county ‘Up Close & Personal’ tour of the Island of Ireland is also planned to coincide with the album release.

‘ABOCURRAGH’ THE LONG AWAITED NEW ALBUM FROM ANDY IRVINE
www.andyirvine.com
‘…one of Ireland’s most creative talents for over 20 years.’
-Boston Globe-
The release of Andy Irvine’s first studio album in over ten years is no small news. Finally coaxed off that perennial global tour for five minutes Irvine has managed to capture a bewitching set of original arrangements and songs that have illuminated his concerts of recent years. Abocurragh (a reference to his residence outside Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh) is not just one man’s album; it is a gathering of great musicians and a dramatic journey for the listener. That journey somehow involves murder, confidence tricks, cannibalism, and the divil himself. But fear not, such macabre themes are offset with the loveliest of music, not to mention a brilliant wit.

SING THE CATS OFF THE PARK WITH A CASHEL SONG
www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOGgmA7CsY8
Cashel’s singer songwriter Billy O’Dwyer Bob’s “The Tipperary Girl” has recently been recorded by Daniel O’Donnell and the Donegal crooner brought it into the Top 50 Irish single charts in July.
The song was touched with tragedy as it was the last recording made by the band’s durmmer John Hickey who lost his battle with liver cancer last Easter.
Billy and the Sorryass Blues band will soon be appearing on Dublin’s Balcony TV, which should give Billy and the Sorryass Blues Band a huge web profile. Balcony TV has clocked up over 10 million hits on its viral music service to date.
