COSCÁN
In March of this year, Coscán celebrated a wonderful 10 years together. Having released their 2nd CD, Dinnseanchas (Lore of Places), in the middle of last year, they kicked of 2010 with a series of concerts in Lens in France at the Slainte Irish Music and Film Festival and have continued to perform at a number festivals at home here in Ireland throughout the summer. Like the tales that made up the ancient Irish Dinnseanchas, the album evokes a sense of wonder and delight in the places to which its music travels. This Slane foursome are adept in performing on the world stage as well as the intimate surroundings of places such as the church on the Hill of Tara where they performed on the Summer Solstice June 21st, much to the delight of the packed audience. The passion and energy that marks Coscán’s live performances has been powerfully captured and cannot be compared to anything else in contemporary Irish music.
In August, Coscán will perform a series of concerts at the world renowned Festival Interceltique de L’orient in France. This will be the 2nd time Coscán has been invited to perform at this the largest Celtic Music festival in Europe which this year is also celebrating its landmark 40th year!
