MAKING OVERTURES COURSE, PERFORMANCE & TOURING AWARD
AND YOUNG MUSICWIDE AWARD APPLICATION DEADLINES APPROACHING
Music Network is calling for applications for a range of supports being
offered to support the career development of musicians. Award deadlines
are approaching for the self-promotion and self-management course,
‘Making Overtures’, (Friday 28th May), the Performance & Touring Award
(Tuesday 8th June), and the Young Musicwide Award (Monday 5th July).
Music Network’s ongoing work supports the career development of
professional musicians through performance opportunities, funding,
courses and information resources.
Professional musicians and composers are invited to participate in
‘Making Overtures’, an intensive, 5-day professional development course
aimed at Irish and Ireland-based musicians. The programme focuses on the
non-artistic elements of a successful music career, particularly
self-promotion and self-management, media, marketing, finance, taxation
and copyright. The course will take place at the Coach House, Dublin
Castle from Monday 12 to Friday 16 July, inclusive and costs €200.
Deadline for applications Friday 28th May. Further information and
application packs are available online at www.musicnetwork.ie.
The Performance and Touring Award assists Irish and Ireland-based
musicians in realising performance opportunities. Projects eligible for
the award include tours, concert series and individual concerts to take
place anywhere within the Republic of Ireland. The award is also open to
multidisciplinary projects with live music as a key element, and to
collaborative projects involving other Irish or visiting international
artists. The total number of concerts funded to date under the
Performance and Touring Award is over two hundred involving artists
across a range of genres, including classical, early music, contemporary
classical, jazz, traditional, folk/world, rock/pop. The next Performance
and Touring Award application deadline is Tuesday 8th June 2010. Further
information and application forms are available online at
www.musicnetwork.ie.
Music Network invites aspiring young jazz musicians to apply for the
Young Musicwide Award, a unique professional development scheme designed
to assist a selected group of Ireland’s brightest young musicians at the
beginning of their professional career. Previous jazz ensembles to
receive the award were Organics jazz trio (2004) who released their
debut CD, “New Light” under the scheme and Trihornophone (2007) who
released their debut CD, “Breathing Time” under the scheme. The closing
date for completed applications is Monday 5th July 2010. Through an
audition process in September, an Irish or Ireland based jazz ensemble,
with a proven interest in performance will be selected to participate in
the programme for three years. Further information and application forms
are available online at www.musicnetwork.ie.
