LONDON LASSES AND PETE QUINN RELEASE THEIR FOURTH ALBUM
By Night & By Day
Described by Irish Music Magazine as “one of the best bands on the scene
today”, The London Lasses and Pete Quinn have, over the past decade,
brought their unique sound to some of the world’s most prestigious
festivals and concert halls, including Cambridge Folk Festival, the
Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Glastonbury, Ballyshannon, Philadelphia Irish
Festival and the Royal Albert Hall, where the band performed the first ever
céilí as part of the 2008 BBC Proms.
The Lasses’ new line-up sees the addition of Co. Kerry flute player Elma
McElligott and Co.Down vocalist/harpist Brona McVittie, who join
long-standing band members, Karen Ryan (fiddle/mandola), Elaine Conwell
(fiddle), Maureen Linane (accordion) and Pete Quinn (piano/keyboard). It
is, surprisingly, the first time in the Lasses’ history that all the band
members are actually based in London.
The launch of By Night & By Day will take place at Jerwood Hall, LSO St
Luke’s, on Saturday 17 April 2010, 161 Old Street, LONDON EC1V 9NG. Doors
open at 7pm; entry is free. Free tickets can be booked at:
