Venue: IMRO, Copyright House, Pembroke Row, Dublin 2
Time: 7:00pm
During the period 1999 to 2004, in conjunction with the Irish Traditional
Music Archive (ITMA), Brian Lawler recorded interviews with 70 people
associated with the period, including ceili band founders and members,
promoters, dancers and radio personnel. He obtained a total of 42 hours of
recorded material. All of the edited recordings are available to the public
at the ITMA.
As founder member of the Ardellis Ceili Band - www.ardellisceiliband.net
- Brian was actively involved himself on the road with the Ardellis
throughout the period. He has put together an insightful talk on the project
which consists of a review of the work and includes short extracts from
some of the field interviews and also some samples of the music of the period.
The talk lasts approx. 45 minutes, followed by time for questions and answers.
His first review of the project took place in Boston College USA in September 2005
and since then he has given many presentations in libraries and art venues throughout Ireland.
