The Fureys & Davey Arthur play Draíocht for two nights in October. The Fureys & Davey Arthur will celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2008 with a series of concerts throughout Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada. They will also release a live DVD / CD to coincide with the anniversary tour.
The band were formed in 1978 literally by accident. George, Paul and Davey were playing in Denmark with their own band called the Buskers and Eddie and Finbar, while touring in Germany were involved in a road accident. When George, Paul and Davey got news of the accident they immediately travelled to Germany to be with their brothers. They then decided that they should all be playing together and this was the start of the Fureys and Davey Arthur.

The early Irish harp is Ireland’s illustrious medieval harp strung in brass and sometimes even silver and gold wire. Played from at least 1000 to 1800 and made famous by harpers such as Carolan, it died out in the early 19th century to be replaced by the neo-Irish harp strung in gut and now also nylon.

ENTERTAINMENT LINE-UP ANNOUNCED FOR THIRD ANNUAL NORTHEAST LOUISIANA CELTIC FESTIVAL

Organizers of the Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival have announced the festival’s largest line-up of musical entertainment for the 2007 event. CelticFest is scheduled for Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th at the Louisiana Purchase Zoo in Monroe. Eighteen different acts will appear over the two days of fun, ending with all musical guests joining in a traditional “ceili” or Irish dance party. Nearly 7,000 visitors are expected to attend the successful combination of food, music, shopping, sports, and fun that celebrate Celtic heritage and traditions.
