JIMMY IN FLORIDA

Cork institution, Jimmy Crowley has set up a base just North of Tampa, Florida to concentrate his career on the Irish-American folk circuit. Residents of Jackson County will be able to see the balladeer perform on September 15th in the 1,000-seat auditorium in William Chrisman High School when the local Lions Club presents “Emerald Autumn,” a benefit concert with Jimmy Crowley, The Kelihans, Bob Reeder and Pipes and Drums of Ararat Shrine. “Help us help the Blind” is the theme of the concert, which the Irish Music Association is co-producing. Lions members, Lance Garnish and Jan Ferguson are co-chairing the event, which they hope will raise $10,000 or more for such Lions-sponsored projects as recycling eyeglasses, lazy-eye screenings, diabetes screening and other vision-related projects.
