New Man at the Ministry
The Fianna Fail Government was returned to office for an historic third term in June and with the new look coalition came a reshuffle of cabinet posts. The new man in charge of Arts Sports and Tourism is Seamus Brennan.
The 58-year-old, has been a Dublin TD since his election in 1981, and a party activist since 1973. In the previous government he served as Minister for Social and Family Affairs after having served as Minister for Transport from 2002 to 2004.
The portfolio of his new job has changed significantly since the last time he was involved as Minister for Tourism back in 1989 when it was alloyed to Transport and Communications. He has inherited a vibrant department from the outgoing John O’Donoghue who is now the Ceann Comhairle of the Dáil. We wish Minister Brennan every success with his new role.
